The adaptor circuit featured here enables you to receive SSB signals with the use of a common shortwave radio.
The product detection is done by the coincidence demodulator inside the IC. The lowpass filter then improves the selectivity of the circuit.
The circuit is simply connected to the IF output of the shortwave receiver and a headphone or an audio amplifier is connected to its output.
The oscillator frequency is adjusted exactly to 455 kHz with the trimmer capacitor C3.
Potentiometer P1 adjusts the input level to ensure a non-distorted output signal. The circuit must be constructed inside a metal shielded box.
